First Day of School

Today was the boys first day of school. They were so excited. Devin could not go to sleep last night and then was up before Joel was, wanting to know if it was time for the bus. Hayden has afternoon kindergarten and soon after Devin left this morning wanted to know if it was time for his bus. It is good to see them so excited about this because had they not been I would have been very tempted to keep them home with me. I have already kept them home as long as I could. I love having my children near me, partly because I enjoy them so much and partly because nobody can protect them and will watch out for them like I would. I know they have to grow up and I want them to, but at the same time I don't. Why are things like first days of school hardest on some moms? I am very proud of my boys for being brave and wanting to be grown up. They both insisted that they ride the bus, I offered to drive them, but as Hayden told me "we are 6 and 7 now" like that is so grown up. They have to walk down to the main road to catch the bus. I sent Devin down with the neighbor kids, but put my little ones in the stroller and walked Hayden down. He was the only one to ride the bus today, but was so excited to go. I can't wait for them to come home so now I am going to wait on the front porch for them to get off the bus.

Tanner who does not want to go to school but wanted his picture taken like his big brothers.

Happy Birthday Hayden!

We wer blessed to have two of our sons born in the same week. It has been fun, but it means we get alot of birthday stuff in the same week.

Hayden's birthday was actually yesterday, but it was a busy day with grandparents and uncle and aunts stopping by to visit. So sorry Hayden it is late, but here's to your happy birthday.

1. Hayden turned 6 years old. Will start kindergarten tomorrow and can hardly wait.

2. Hayden was born almost 4 weeks early and was my smallest baby. He is still my smallest in size.

3. Hayden is my most quite stubborn child. It has to be his idea or it does not happen.

4. Hayden sees what he wants and goes and gets it. He is very determined when he wants to be.

5. Hayden looks up to his big brother and wants to be just like him. Thinks that he is just as big and can do anything Devin can. He also likes being a big brother.

6. Hayden loves cars just like his dad and would like to grow up and do what his dad did on cars to airplanes. (Or in other words he wants to be a airplane engineer.)

We are blessed every day to have him in our family and wanted to wish him a happy day.

Questions

I took my kids grocery shopping today, which is always a crazy experience. I avoid going for as long as I possible can and then when we run out of milk I load every body up for a trip to the grocery store.

So today was one of those days, we ran out of milk on Sat. and my boys thought that we were going to die yesterday without it.

As I was trying to keep my boys under control and out of other peoples way, a lady passed and asked " Are all these yours?"

I turned around and looked to see who all these kids were that she was talking about, wondering if we were holding up others with kids, and only saw mine. As I acknowledged that they were all mine, she said "Oh, bless you!'

Did I look like I needed blessings? I did not know how to react to this, so I herded my kids on without saying anything.

Is 4 kids in the "Are all these kids yours?" category? And what do you say to comments like these? I must admit that I was quite taken back by this comment.

I made cinnamon rolls today for our FHE treats and the last couple of times I have made them they have turned out like these. They are hollow around all the swirls. Why do they do this? What did I do wrong?
